Bangor Swim Club held a Swim Meet in the Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex in Bangor on Sunday 6 November 2016.  This was a minor meet for swimmers under the age of 12 and contained all 25M events.

Two swimmers from the Novice group of Breifne Swim Club, Autumn and Hamish Vickerman took part in this gala.  Autumn obtained three personal best times out of a possible four, while Hamish obtained two personal best times out of four.  Hamish also managed to finish in the top ten in two events, 25M Backstroke and 25M Breaststroke enabling him to take part in the finals of both events.

Leinster Swimming held their first graded gala of the season in the National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown in Dublin on Sunday 6 November 2016.

For this season, Leinster Swimming introduced a new awards scheme for graded galas.  Swimmers were awarded coloured wristbands following receipt of their official time for each event.  The colour of the wristband reflects the grade the swimmer has achieved.  This now replaces the medals which Leinster Swimming gave to the top three swimmers in each grade.

At this gala, Breifne Swim Club had seven swimmers take part over Development and Competition Squads.  They were Caoimhe Brady, Lucy Hogan, Aoibhean Clarke, Abby McDowell, Clodagh Clarke, Ella Maguire and Milly Owen.

These seven swimmers gained a total of 15 Personal Best times out of a possible 24.

Leinster Swimming are holding their annual distance gala in the National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown, Dublin on Sunday 20 November 2016.

This gala is sometimes oversubscribed and if so, entries from Leinster clubs will be given preference.  It is important to get Breifne entries in early and so hopefully avoid our swimmers being held on a waiting list for places.

The gala secretary will send an entry file this Wednesday 26 October 2016.  Please have entries sent before 8.00pm to be included in in these entries.

Another entry file will be sent closer to the closing date.  Closing date for this gala will be Wednesday 9 November at 10.00 am.

Swim Ulster are holding their first Qualifying Gala of the season over the weekend of 18 – 20 November 2016 in the Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Lisburn.

The minimum age group for this gala is 9 years old.
